Educators and Corporations Collaborating on STEM Education (2012-2016)

Educator Corporate Collaboration for STEM Education or EC2 is a program, where a team of educators from a school district deepens their understanding of STEM Literacy and develops an action plan to more effectively implement STEM in the classroom, with input from corporate visits, reflections, and active engagement in STEM activities.  In its fifth year of implementation, EC2 is a grant-funded and independently evaluated program partnering area school districts with several major corporations.

The corporate visits were amazing due to the hands on experiences and networking. I also love the addition of the presentations and dialogue with the districts and corporations at the end of the EC2 program.

EC2 Participant and Classroom Educator

As a corporate host, my goal was to show how STEM thinking, specifically problem formulation, analysis, and solution development, is used every day. I hope some understanding of our work will help the teachers give students concrete examples of "why it is important", not just "what it is".

EC2 Corporate Partner

I feel a large part of EC2 that was most helpful to me as an educator was the continuous reflection of the capacities after each activity or corporate visit. The reflection of the practices really helped me to see how the capacities are so important and easy to incorporate into the classroom. Overall, that was the point - to connect our new vision of STEM literacy to our classroom and students.
